What you will learn


Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, participants will…

1)   Identify common reasons for referrals to feeding therapy and describe key aspects of medically based feeding therapy.

2)   Apply assessment methods to evaluate oral motor, postural, behavioral, and sensory processing skills to determine primary and secondary factors contributing to feeding difficulties.

3)   Identify the key components of a comprehensive feeding evaluation by gathering detailed medical, feeding, and environmental history to identify key factors influencing a child’s eating behaviors and routines.

4)   Apply interventions addressing oral motor, sensory, and food aversions to various client needs to help reduce mealtime anxiety and promote positive experiences with feeding, eating, and swallowing.


Successful Completion of Course:  

The following criteria will determine satisfactory completion of the course: 

- Attendance to the entire length of the course is evidenced by database logs. No partial credit will be awarded. 

- Successful completion of post-course quiz on learning objectives with at least 10 of 15 answers correct.  

- Completion of post-course survey  

After successfully completing the steps above, your certificate will be available on your learner profile.

Instructor Bio  

Dr. Piller is the owner and director of Piller Child Development, an outpatient pediatric therapy company with three locations in the greater Phoenix area. She has advanced training in sensory integration and also specializes in feeding therapy. She received her masters in occupational therapy from Temple University and her PhD in occupational therapy from Texas Woman’s University. She has her board certification in pediatrics from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and is also a fellow of AOTA.

Financial: Dr Piller is owner and receives a salary from of Piller Child Development, LLC. She is the co-author of the Teen Anxiety Program.
